About Me

My name is Rory and I am an Excel addict. It’s what I do. (and if you listen to my wife, it’s all I do)

As a result of this addiction, I have had the honour to be a Microsoft MVP since 2007 – you can see my profile here.

    Hi,
I have a query in connecting Access Database which is in Sharepoint from excel VBA. I tried to connect with list, it worked fine. But I want to connect with the Database and do Insert/Update like how we do from Excel to Access and vice verse.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rory

I had an issue with my Excel which I run XL 13 on today. I searched the internet for a solution and could not get my head around any of the recomendations until I got to your site here:

    http://excelmatters.com/2014/12/10/office-update-breaks-activex-controls/

It was really easy instructions and the fix worked instantly. I am just writing to say thankyou. I realise probably thousands visit your site and you probably don’t get to hear about the people you have helped that often.

The year has been uber busy for me and I get little time on Ozgrid or any other forum. That may change later but for now I am time poor for the first time in years.

I hope all is well in your world. If I write an article about my adventure today I will surely reference your site. Thanks again mate.

    Marcus

You were wondering if the recent Office updates affect Excel 2003 macros. The answer for me is YES – it just shut all my toolbars down. I have had to avoid updating Office for the past several months, and fortunately was able to reverse the troublesome updates to an earlier state. I have stayed with Excel 2003 because my custom toolbars became much less efficient on the 2007 Ribbon. I believe there is code for working with the Ribbon but haven’t got into it. Are you aware whether Microsoft’s new security updates fix the problem or any tips on using custom toolbars with the Ribbon?
