Welcome to Excel Matters: a random repository of my knowledge of, and thoughts on, Microsoft Excel.

It was recently suggested to me that I should have a donation button so that people can fuel my coffee habit, should they so wish, for any help I may have been here or elsewhere (and there is no obligation or expectation!), so there is now one at the bottom of the page if you wish to keep me twitchy… 😉

I came across your blog looking for a solution to the recent office update that breaks Activex controls. Before I found your blog I was insane with anger. Apparently your coffee habit is good for my mental well being.

Being that my name is Rory, and I am also a excel addict, I felt compelled to reach out to my brethren and say thanks.

    So Thanks!

    Hey Rory,

In the last couple of days I have noticed that the code “Activesheet.Paste” no longer works in Excel 2010 (maybe other versions, but that what I am using).

Not only does that command no longer work, but it causes an error that forces excel to freeze and force shut down is required. Do you know if the was an recent office update? It seems like the recent office updates have been horrendously disruptful.

I don’t know if the two are related. Do you have ActiveX controls on worksheets in that workbook? The update bug has been known to cause problems with unrelated code in affeected workbooks.

My name is Bart and I was wondering if you could help an inexperienced excel user with a few excel wishes? This project of mine is just for an amateur motorsport team. Excel is not a huge part of my normal working life, so I need help.
I am trying to create an easy way to gather information from multiple spread sheets/working template with the same basic information into one organised workbook. (Macro style, I think?)
I have searched the internet and YouTube, high and low to try and understand how to create a macro style workbook to help keep things organised and have history too. Is this something you help people with or have I embarrassed myself further.

Look forward to hear from you.

    Cheers Bart,

That’s really the sort of question that belongs in a forum – I don’t really do that here. I suggest you try MrExcel.
